Cheapest AI Movie Maker

The cheapest AI movie maker is not the one with the lowest monthly price — it is the one where the film you actually want costs least to finish. Subscriptions bury that number in a credit allowance, so this page does the division.

Ключевые функции

01

Per finished minute, not per month

A $15 plan that runs out after 52 seconds of video is not cheaper than a $35 plan that lasts three minutes. The only comparable number is what one finished minute costs, and it takes a division nobody publishes.

02

Cheap generation, expensive re-rolls

A model that cannot hold a character across shots is cheap per clip and expensive per film, because you re-roll until the faces match. Consistency is a cost feature before it is a quality one.

03

No subscription floor here

Credits are a flat $0.01 and video bills per second of output. A month where you generate nothing costs nothing, and credits you buy do not reset at the end of a cycle.

Why the monthly price tells you almost nothing

Every subscription in this category sells a credit allowance, and the allowance is what you are actually buying. Two plans at the same price can differ five-fold in how much finished film they produce, because the per-second rate of the model you spend them on differs five-fold.

Runway publishes both halves of its equation, which makes it the cleanest worked example. Standard is $15 a month for 625 credits, and Gen-4.5 text-to-video bills 12 credits a second. That is 52 seconds of video a month — Runway says so on its own pricing page — which works out at about $1.44 for a five-second clip, and worse if you do not spend the whole allowance, because Standard and Pro credits reset within 24 hours of your billing date rather than rolling over.

LTX Studio at $15 looks like the same price and is not the same product at that tier: its own pricing page puts consistent Elements, AI storyboards and the commercial-use licence at Standard, $35 a month. So the entry price for the thing most people mean by "AI movie maker" — script in, consistent characters out, allowed to use the result at work — is $35 there, not $15.

Katalist starts at $19 a month for one custom character and 700 video credits, with a seven-day trial on every tier. Ten custom characters is the $39 plan.

Entry prices and what they gate

Read from each vendor's own pricing page on 2026-07-28. The right-hand column is the one that matters: the cheapest tier at which you can make a multi-shot film with consistent characters and use it commercially.

ReelfoNone required — credits at $0.01Every model, every resolution, no tier gatesCommercial licence from $16/mo Starter
LTX Studio$15/mo Lite (8,000 credits)Script to video, but no reusable Elements$35/mo Standard

Runway$15/mo Standard (625 credits)~52 seconds of Gen-4.5 a month; no rolloverConsistency is image-level, assembled by hand

LTX Studio's free tier grants 800 credits once and is licensed for personal use only. Katalist advertises a seven-day trial on every tier. Runway's free plan cannot run its text-to-video model at all — its only free video model is image-to-video, and free output is watermarked.

What one finished minute costs on Reelfo

Sixty seconds of finished film, cut from eight-second shots. Credits are $0.01 flat and video bills per second, so this is arithmetic rather than an estimate — and there is no monthly floor underneath it.

Read from the live model registry. Keyframes add 10 to 48 credits a shot; the script, cast and shot-list stages are text and cost a rounding error against any row here.

The trap: cheapest per clip is not cheapest per film

Three of the ten published models take a starting frame and nothing else. Hailuo 2.3 is the cheapest clip in the roster at $0.36 for five seconds, and if your film has one recurring character in it, that is a false economy: ask it for a second shot of the same person and you get a different person, so you re-roll, and each re-roll bills.

Worked through: a one-minute film is 432 credits ($4.32) on Hailuo 2.3 if every shot lands first time, against 588 credits ($5.88) on PixVerse C1, which carries the cast. The gap is about three re-rolls. Nobody gets a multi-shot film in one pass.

Which is also why "no sign up" is worth thinking about for two seconds rather than filtering on it. A tool that lets you generate anonymously is a tool that cannot keep a character sheet for you between sessions, and character sheets are the mechanism that makes a film cheaper than the sum of its re-rolls.

What "AI movie maker" tends to mean in the results

A large share of what ranks for this phrase is a timeline editor with AI features attached — you are cutting footage you already have, and the AI does captions, background removal and stock search. If you have clips and want them assembled, that is the right product and this page is not about it.

A smaller share generates the footage. Within that, the split is between clip generators (one prompt, one clip, no memory) and pipelines (script, cast, shot list, render). Both are represented at every price point, and the price you should compare is per finished minute rather than per month.

A third group is film-from-photos: you supply the images and the tool animates and sequences them. Cheaper than generating from scratch, and reference-driven models here will take your photos too — that is the same mechanism, from the other end.

Signing up puts 100 credits in your account, once, with no card. That is enough for the script, character and shot-list stages plus about one keyframe — it is a look at the pipeline, not a free finished reel.
